- Two come to mind: Printmaster and Pelican Press.
-
- Printmaster is older than old and I would not recommend it even if you could
- find it.
-
- Pelican Press (PP), while directed more for use by children, is a great program
- for doing things compariable to Printshop. But alas, after its release, the
- program's creators did little else with it. I like it because it handled text
- and graphics on their own layers making it easy to change one without affecting
- the other. PP came with a decent collection of graphics. It was able to import
- other IFF graphics but one had to watch the colors because PP's color table
- never matched anything else. PP did not run in high resolution but in 32 color
- halfbright if I remember correctly.
-
- Since both of these programs are out-of-print, I can only recommend using
- PageStream or ProPage to do a card layout. I would recommend PageStream over
- ProPage because it is still in active development and free upgrade/patches
- regularily appear on Aminet. ProPage on the other hand was basically abandoned
- by Gold Disk in deference to the PC market ( I have not heard anything about
- Gold Disk lately, are they still in business? ). While these programs need a
- bit more effort to learn to use, the results they can generate output that is
- of high quality.
